Jeez, what's everyones problem with Steve Stanley all about? the gave gave all of our bands opportunities if we wanted them. Chances of support slots with major bands, bands that tiny GY bands would have never got to play with normally. Sure the ticket system is a bit naff but ive heard of worse from DIY promoters (not in this town) he pays bands more than i could ever afford to. He books the bands that YOU want to see. Okay, he's a businessman, but he cares about music annd the bands.

joe is right, sheffield barfly's policy is you sell 50 tickets just to play THEN whatever you sell after that 50 you keep the money. so you gotta make them 300 squid before you make any.

and time was when you would have to BUY those 50 tickets + sell them to get your money back. so if you do 4 shows in a month thats 1200 quid.

My word, whats the world coming to. There was a time when Joe would have got home from his paper round and given me a hearty bollocking for saying just what he said about Satan Stanley. Ah well we all mellow with age.

It is true though, this xmas gig shows that his heart is in the right place, it's just his brain seems to be in the wrong way round sometimes.

Anyway, I got confirmation today that the "Press Conference" is next Monday (25th) at the Beachy between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. I assume everyone else will have got the same letter as I have today. It might seem like a pain for some people to attend but I'd certainly urge everyone to try and make it, if only to prove to the Telegraph (and its readers) that there's more to Grimsby's youth than just grannie bashing druggies.
